Farewell Sweet Cody
As you might know Cody has been struggling with his health since last fall. We took him in for tests at the end of November, 2014, but at the time, even after several tests, the doctors couldn’t pinpoint what was causing is weight loss. At the time he weighed 8.6 pounds, down from 12+ pounds. Over the last several weeks Cody has lost more weight, he was down to 5.8 pounds, and was getting progressively weaker. Earlier this week we took Cody in to the Vet to see if they would finally be able to figure out why he was continuing to lose weight. After the examination, the doctor said that she felt a mass in his abdomen, and even with x-rays, she couldn’t be 100% sure if the tumor was operable. They would need to do an exploratory surgery to make a final determination. The doctor also mentioned that he was in desperate need of a blood transfusion due to being very anemic, which was what was probably causing his weakness. The doctor recommended no further action in regards to the exploratory surgery, because even if they were able to remove the tumor she didn’t think Cody had the strength to survive the surgery and/or the very lengthy recovery period.
We felt it was not right to put him through the trauma of a surgery and difficult recovery, especially if the was a possibility that nothing could be done. It sadden our heart to have to let Cody go, but we felt it was the right decision.
He will be joining all of his brothers and sisters over the rainbow bridge; Marty, Mickey, Brandy, Max, and Bailey. He will live in our hearts forever.
Please enjoy this look back over Cody’s life and share in our memories of a sweet, sweet baby.
Needless to say, I am not up for recording a podcast this week. I know you all will understand, but for those of you who have knit the Felted Clogs, I have a very special episode planned for next week.
